Role Summary The Lending Support Lead & Business Relationship Manager plays a key role in supporting the Head of Lending (HoL) in managing lending operations, credit risk and business development, with a specific focus on SME lending and mortgage expansion. This role is pivotal in enhancing the credit unions loan portfolio, ensuring strong underwriting standards, risk management and compliance while maintaining a strong member-first approach. In addition to robust underwriting, this role is focused on strategic loan book growth, building profitable and enduring relationships and delivering value creation through proactive member engagement and financial solutions. A core focus of the role will be developing and expanding the credit unions presence in the mortgage market, ensuring the successful launch and ongoing management of mortgage products while supporting business development efforts in the SME/AGRIsector. The Lending Support Lead & Business Relationship Officer will also be responsible for key performance indicators (KPIs) linked to loan growth, credit quality, turnaround times and member satisfaction. Key Requirements & Qualifications Professional Qualification: o In line with the Minimum Competency Code (MCC), APA (Accredited Product Advisor) in loans is essential. QFA or CUA or actively working towards a qualification is also preferable. Experience: o 5+ years in lending, with experience in SME and mortgage underwriting. o Proven experience in credit risk assessment and financial analysis. o Strong understanding of mortgage lending regulations and risk management principles. o Experience in building relationships with the farming community, SMEs, business owners. o Prior experience in mentoring or supporting lending teams is an advantage. o A strong understanding of credit risks associated with personal, mortgages and SME/Agri lending. Technical & Analytical Skills: o Strong numerical, financial analysis and credit risk assessment skills. o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and lending software. o Ability to prepare detailed loan and mortgage reports for senior leadership. o Ability to adapt to emerging technologies Soft Skills & Attributes: o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop networks and relationships. o Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. o Ability to work proactively and independently while supporting the lending team. o High levels of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail. As a control function, the successful candidate will be accountable for ensuring that the relevant Individual Accountability Framework responsibilities are met in line with regulatory requirements.
