3D Modeling Specialist
Job Summary:
The 3D Modeling Specialist is responsible for the creation, management, and coordination of digital models for construction and engineering projects.
This role involves working closely with architects, engineers, and project teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and effective use of 3D modeling technology throughout the project lifecycle.
1. BIM Model Creation & Management:
* Develop, manage, and update 3D BIM models for various construction projects, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
* Create detailed BIM models that support project design, construction, and facility management, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of all building systems and components into the BIM model.
* Ensure BIM standards and project-specific requirements are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Collaboration & Coordination:
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to define project requirements and ensure the correct implementation of 3D modeling.
* Coordinate and resolve design conflicts between disciplines using clash detection and coordination tools (e.g., Navisworks, Revit).
* Conduct 3D modeling coordination meetings, ensuring the team is aligned and any design conflicts are addressed promptly.
* Maintain open communication with all project stakeholders to ensure that the 3D model reflects the latest design changes, revisions, and updates.
3. BIM Implementation & Standards:
* Implement and maintain BIM execution plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards, protocols, and project-specific needs.
* Ensure that the 3D model is compatible with the projects technological platforms and any software tools used by the client or stakeholders.
* Help define 3D modeling guidelines, best practices, and standards for the organization.
* Regularly audit 3D models to ensure they comply with quality, technical, and regulatory standards.
4. Clash Detection & Issue Resolution:
* Perform clash detection analysis to identify and resolve conflicts in the design before construction begins, minimizing costly rework and delays.
* Use 3D modeling software tools to facilitate clash detection and ensure effective resolution of issues through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
* Produce and distribute reports on clash detection and resolution efforts, ensuring all parties are informed of required changes.
5. Documentation & Reporting:
* Produce and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all 3D modeling-related activities, including models, reports, and specifications.
* Provide regular progress updates to the project team and management, highlighting any issues or delays related to 3D modeling processes.
* Assist in preparing 4D and 5D models (time and cost integration) for project scheduling and cost estimation purposes.
6. Training & Support:
* Provide training and support for team members and stakeholders on the proper use of 3D modeling tools and software.
* Troubleshoot technical issues related to 3D models and provide solutions for smooth project execution.
* Stay updated with the latest 3D modeling trends, technologies, and industry best practices and apply this knowledge to improve workflow and efficiency.
7. Quality Control & Data Management:
* Perform regular checks to ensure the 3D models are consistent, accurate, and up to date.
* Ensure the correct management and maintenance of 3D data throughout the project, ensuring that models and data are backed up and accessible.
* Maintain version control of 3D models and ensure changes are tracked and properly documented.
Requirements:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in 3D modeling roles, preferably in construction, architecture, or engineering projects.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D modeling software, particularly Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
* Familiarity with 3D modeling, clash detection, and project management tools.
* Understanding of Building Systems: Strong knowledge of architectural, structural, and MEP systems and how they integrate within 3D modeling workflows.
* Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex issues related to 3D models and project coordination.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail in modeling, documentation, and coordination tasks.
* Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines and with stakeholders.
Desired Skills:
* Advanced 3D Modeling Tools: Familiarity with advanced 3D modeling tools such as Dynamo, BIM 360, or other collaborative platforms.
* Clash Detection & Coordination: Experience with clash detection tools like Navisworks or similar software.
* Project Management: Experience in managing or supporting the management of 3D-enabled projects, including scheduling and cost estimation.
* Industry Certifications: Certification in 3D modeling-related software or methodologies (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional, Building Smart, or similar).
