Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of electrical installations and equipment. You will work closely with our team to deliver high-quality projects that meet the client's needs.
- Technical Expertise:
Be a qualified electrician awarded the National Craft Certificate as part of the national Framework of Qualifications or equivalent in the jurisdiction and verified by Naric.
- Have successfully obtained a suitable electrical award, equivalent to Level 6 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications.
- Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project drawings such as SLD's, Wiring Diagrams, schematics etc.
- Understanding of EN and local code Regulations.
- Be or become conversant with latest local jurisdictional electrical regulations.
- Electrical Knowledge:
Inspect, commission, troubleshoot, associated control systems and power circuits and switchgear
- Perform a variety of commissioning duties including, but not limited to, MCC's, VSD's, distribution panels, motors, lighting and small power circuits.
- Demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable policies and work methods associated with assigned duties to commission electrical equipment and to perform other duties as required.
- Understand, interpret and work from various forms of project documentation such as Punchlist Procedure, As Built Procedure, Vendor Manuals etc.
- Safety Focus:
Understand the need for and adherence to the Permit to Work and Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures and follow safe working practices.
Ensure that all works are conducted in accordance with the client directives.
Operational control of the LOTO systems
Operational control of safe switching (Energisation/Isolations) during the commissioning phase.
Ensure that all warning signs are in place and checked at regular intervals
Reporting of any electrical incidents to SAP and Energy Marshall
Ensure the segregation of hazardous areas and the correct use of Electrical PPE
Successfully complete any training deemed necessary by Mercury in the jurisdiction.
Identify potential hazards and implement mitigation measures.
Ensure areas are secured which are under permit control.
Assist Senior Authorised Persons to remain compliant in the completion of the necessary internal audits such as Self-Assessment COHE Audit and Audit for the inspection of temporary electrics.
Be conversant with Arc flash mitigation including PPE selection, condition and maintenance.
Authorise Energisation and Isolation Requests once all criteria have been met for the nominated voltage range
Follow the instruction of the Senior Authorised Person.
If not done so during proof of qualification, provide evidence of successful completion of colour vision test.

Monitor the condition of PPE and safety equipment, advice Senior Authorised Person of calibration requirements or replacement safety equipment as required.
Have completed a recognised MV/HV switching course if being appointed as an MV Authorised Person
Must have worked on MV systems for a minimum of three years
