Job Title: Sustainability Manager
Job Overview:
In this role, you will lead our sustainabilityinitiatives, ensuring that our operations align with environmental, social, andeconomic sustainability goals. You will be responsible for driving initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint, optimising resource usage,ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations, and engaging internal andexternal stakeholders in our sustainability journey.
Key Responsibilities:
* SustainabilityStrategy Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies specific tothe manufacturing or industrial sector. Align sustainability goals withoverall business objectives, focusing on energy efficiency, wastereduction, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
* CarbonFootprint Management:
Monitor, analyse, and implement plans to reduce the company’s carbonfootprint. Work towards meeting carbon reduction targets and regulatoryrequirements.
* ResourceEfficiency & Waste Reduction:
Design and implement initiatives aimed at improving resource efficiency(energy, water, raw materials) and reducing waste across manufacturingprocesses. Promote a circular economy approach where feasible, includingrecycling and reusing materials.
* Compliance& Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and industrystandards including Origin Green, ISO 14001 & 50001. Stay up to dateon local and international sustainability regulations affecting themanufacturing industry.
* SustainabilityReporting & Communication:
Lead the preparation of sustainability reports for internal stakeholders,clients, and regulatory bodies, ensuring transparency and accountabilityin the company’s sustainability performance.
* GreenProduct Development:
Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate sustainability principles intoproduct design and development. Ensure the sustainability of new productsthroughout their lifecycle, from sourcing to disposal or recycling.
* EmployeeEngagement & Training:
Develop training programs and initiatives to engage employees insustainability practices, from energy saving to waste management, creatinga sustainability-minded culture throughout the organisation.
* Supplier& Supply Chain Sustainability:
Work with suppliers and partners to implement sustainability practiceswithin the supply chain. Promote sustainable sourcing, ethical practices,and reduced environmental impact throughout the supply chain.
* EnergyManagement:
Oversee energy management initiatives, including monitoring energyconsumption, recommending efficiency improvements, and adopting renewableenergy where possible.
* Innovation& Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed about new technologies, trends, and best practices insustainability and manufacturing. Lead efforts to introduce innovativesolutions that improve sustainability performance and operationalefficiency.
* Budget& Resource Management:
Manage the budget for sustainability projects, ensuring efficient use ofresources and achieving key sustainability goals within budgetaryconstraints.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Adegree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Industrial Engineering,or a related field.
* Provenexperience (3+ years) in sustainability management within a manufacturingor industrial setting.
* Strongknowledge of sustainability regulations, carbon management, wastereduction, and energy efficiency in industrial operations.
* Experiencewith ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and other relevant environmental managementsystems.
* Strongproject management skills with a proven ability to implementsustainability initiatives across departments and teams.
* Abilityto analyse complex data, produce reports, and make informed decisionsbased on performance metrics.
* Exceptionalcommunication skills with the ability to engage and influence seniormanagement, external partners, and employees at all levels.
* Passionfor sustainability and a track record of delivering measurableenvironmental and social outcomes.
