Responsibilities
Leading, developing and growing a team of tenured Solutions Engineers focused on our largest market segments
Creating a collaborative and engaging culture to reward effective technical sales, responsibility and long‑term customer success
Collaborating with other Solutions Engineering leads to define the SE craft and level of excellence
Coaching Solutions Engineers to be technical advisors, solution consultants and expert generalists on the Shopify platform
Leading the team in navigating complex sales cycles and collaborating with sales leaders to achieve ambitious growth targets
Leading Solutions Engineers in cross‑functional initiatives and building partnerships with sales, product and marketing
Identifying opportunities to scale the impact of the Solutions Engineering teams for the ultimate goal of realizing GMV faster and more efficiently
Building and maintaining internal relationships (Sales, Launch, Product) while advocating for prospective and current customers
Identifying and owning initiatives to improve and develop the team’s craft and performance
Coaching, mentoring, and developing the team through strong and frequent feedback
Directly contributing to deals to gain context and understanding of the Solutions Engineer role
Qualifications
A proven track record of successfully engaging with and winning over decision‑makers at large, complex organizations, consistently exceeding sales targets
Strong technical background, with demonstrated success in R&D, sales and/or customer‑facing roles
A deep understanding of the intricacies of navigating complex enterprise landscapes, including internal workflows, stakeholder alignment, and managing large‑scale projects
Can demonstrate a clear understanding of metrics‑based performance coaching
Experience working closely with or directly as a Solutions Engineer leader
Must enjoy being part of the pre‑sales process and working with sales teams
Ability to speak comfortably about Shopify’s platform, roadmap, major tech partners, competition, and common customer integrations & challenges, and bring executive presence to customer calls for high‑visibility deals
Proven track record in a leadership role within a dynamic pre‑sales environment, managing a high‑performing team of Solutions Engineers
Hands‑on experience in team management that reflects a nimble and adaptive approach, thriving in fast‑paced settings that encourage innovative problem‑solving
Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead teams in delivering technical solutions that align closely with customer needs and sales objectives
Ability to work cross‑functionally with other teams to create a fuller enterprise experience
