Overview
Our client is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex mechanical and process installations on major pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing projects in Athlone. This role involves coordinating engineering activities, managing technical information flow, and supporting construction teams to deliver work safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Review mechanical drawings, specifications and project documentation to understand scope and identify requirements.
* Coordinate mechanical services and process pipework activities with design teams, suppliers, subcontractors and site personnel.
* Prepare technical documentation including equipment data, material lists and engineering queries.
* Support procurement by identifying long-lead materials, tracking deliveries and ensuring equipment arrives in line with project needs.
* Work with BIM and CAD teams to ensure accurate installation drawings and updates are maintained.
* Monitor site progress, ensuring mechanical works align with the programme and quality expectations.
* Assist with commissioning activities, system checks and preparation of handover records.
* Provide regular updates to project management and contribute to planning, risk reviews and progress meetings.
Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* 3–5 years' experience with a mechanical or MEP contractor, ideally on process or pharmaceutical projects.
* Strong understanding of mechanical building services and process pipework installations.
* Experience working with BIM/CAD tools and coordinating technical information.
* Good planning, documentation and communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
