The Role
Leitrim County Council invites applications for inclusion on a panel for temporary vacancies for the Part‑Time Civic Amenity Site Attendant.
The role is part‑time, operational and manual, providing frontline service to the community. The attendant will manage the Civic Amenity Site, collect gate charges, issue receipts, support environmental initiatives and ensure the site is maintained to licence and safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Comply with the Civic Amenity Site (CAS) License.
* Collect gate charges, issue receipts and lodge proceeds.
* Manage access, enforce site rules and environmental regulations.
* Ensure appropriate waste deposition and sorting.
* Assist and advise customers and respond to queries.
* Maintain site cleanliness, including chemical spraying and weed control.
* Monitor facility use and coordinate bin emptying.
* Keep the waste register up to date.
* Report incidents to line manager.
* Assist with environmental initiatives such as Bulky Waste Collection Days.
* Control site capacity, load and unload waste materials.
* Support contractor supervision and safety management systems.
* Adhere to organisational policies, procedures and legislation.
* Participate in training and climate action initiatives.
Qualifications
* Good character and adequate health to render regular and efficient service.
* Relevant experience in Civic Amenity Site duties.
* Valid Safe Pass Card (must be held prior to appointment).
* Valid and unendorsed Category B driving licence (or equivalent EU model licence).
* Strong communication, interpersonal and customer awareness skills.
* Teamwork, self‑motivation, judgement and safety knowledge (Health & Welfare at Work).
Ideal Candidate
* Understanding of Civic Amenity Site Attendant responsibilities.
* Comfortable with manual handling, safety and health standards.
* Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology and information systems.
* Flexibility regarding working hours, including potential overnight or weekend work.
* Knowledge of local authority functions and environmental initiatives.

Applicants must be:
* A citizen of the EEA.
* A citizen of the UK.
* A citizen of Switzerland.
* A non‑EEA citizen who is a spouse or child of an EEA/UK/Swiss citizen and holds a Stamp 4 visa.
* A person with international protection under the International Protection Act 2015, or a related family member with a Stamp 4 visa.
* A non‑EEA parent of a dependent child who is an EEA/UK/Swiss citizen and has a Stamp 4 visa.
Terms & Conditions
* Position: Part‑time (16 hours per week), temporary, 2‑year fixed term with a 6‑month probationary period.
* Location: Mohill Civic Amenity Site, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.
* Remuneration: €684.25 – €765.29 gross weekly (subject to statutory deductions).
* Working hours: Core 16 hours per week; schedule to be determined upon appointment. Additional hours may be required in emergencies.
* Annual leave: 80 hours per annum (pro‑rated 195 hours for a full‑time role).
* Probation: 6‑month probation with ongoing performance review; may be extended at council discretion.
