We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Steel Detailer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in steel detailing, with the support and training to develop skills and gain hands-on experience in real-world projects.
Job Outline:
As a Junior Steel Detailer, you will assist in the preparation of fabrication and erection drawings. You will learn to use industry-standard software and develop a strong understanding of steel structures, fabrication processes, and construction practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create detailed drawings and 3D models for structural and secondary steelwork using Autocad / Tekla Structures (or similar software).
* Interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
* Prepare basic fabrication and erection drawings, material lists, and other documentation.
* Learn to apply relevant industry standards and client specifications.
* Participate in internal design and coordination meetings.
* Help track drawing revisions and ensure documentation is up to date.
* Collaborate with project managers, fabrication teams, and site crews to support project delivery.
* Take part in quality checks and assist with troubleshooting design or coordination issues.
Skills & Requirements:
* Qualification in engineering, drafting, construction technology, or a related field (certificate, diploma, or degree level).
* Some experience or familiarity with CAD or steel detailing software (e.g. Tekla, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is desirable but not essential.
* Strong willingness to learn and grow within the steel fabrication industry.
* Good understanding of technical drawings and a keen eye for detail.
* Basic knowledge of structural steel and fabrication processes is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Organised, proactive, and eager to develop professionally.
