We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Welding Robot Operator to join our dynamic Engineering Workshop team in Tuam, Co. Galway. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating and maintaining robotic welding systems, with a strong emphasis on programming welding jigs to optimize production efficiency and product quality. This role is crucial for our continued growth and will involve working with a variety of materials and product lines.
Key duties and Responsibilities
* Operate, monitor, and maintain robotic welding cells to produce high-quality welded components according as per engineering drawings and specifications.
* Program welding robots and associated jigs and fixtures to achieve precise and repeatable welds, optimizing path, speed, voltage, and wire feed parameters.
* Develop and implement new welding programs for various product lines and materials.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to robot operation, welding parameters, and jig performance.
* Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks on welding robots, jigs, and related equipment.
* Conduct quality checks on welded parts to ensure they meet specified tolerances and standards.
* Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize welding processes and improve product design for manufacturability.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and waste elimination.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Ensure strict adherence to all Health and Safety General Rules & Procedures.
Desired Skills and Experience
* Previous experience (minimum 3+ yrs) as a Welding Robot Operator in a manufacturing environment essential
* Demonstrable experience in programming robotic welding jigs and fixtures is essential.
* Leaving Certificate qualification is a minimum requirement
* Fabrication/Welding/Technical certificate or relevant equivalent is desirable
* Strong understanding of various welding processes (MIG/MAG, TIG, etc.) and their application.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
* Familiarity with robotic programming languages and software (e.g. Yaskawa – specific experience with our systems is an advantage).
* Experience with preventative maintenance of robotic systems.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
