Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for: Social Care Assistant.
Overview
Social Care Assistant role at Jerpoint Camphill, Kilkenny. This is a full-time or part-time position with permanent status, offering an opportunity to contribute to person-centred supports within a residential and day service setting.
Responsibilities
1. Advocacy & Rights: Respect each person who uses the services as an equal citizen; uphold and respect rights; facilitate and develop choice, decision-making, self-advocacy, and community participation.
2. Person Centred Support for Living: Ensure a person-centred approach to service delivery; support individuals with occupation and leisure activities, communication, behaviour support plans, independent living skills, social integration, personal care, and personal development.
3. Support with self-care skills: Foster self-care skills, personal hygiene, health matters, and personal appearance.
4. General support: Provide physical and personal care support, including movement and handling, fire safety, cleaning, laundry, infection control, mobility, and health needs; attend medical appointments as required; promote healthy, nutritious diets; support residents in home life and community engagement.
5. Transport & outings: Competence in centre transport and participation in transport duties; assist with organisation of centre outings.
6. Team and wellbeing: Be a full team member, accept delegated responsibilities for physical and emotional wellbeing and personal hygiene; contribute to ongoing teamwork.
7. Record keeping and compliance: Adhere to policies, procedures, codes of practice; maintain up-to-date records, timesheets, financial statements, risk assessments, incident reports, and other required documentation; report concerns to the Person in Charge; ensure health and safety practices are followed.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* Hold a minimum of a QQI Level 5 Major Award (or BA in Social Care Studies/equivalent qualification in Community/Health or Social Care).
* 1 year of experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
* Understanding of current policy and developments in social care within disability services.
* Ability to follow care plans and methods to meet the needs of individuals; effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
* Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
* Full driving licence and access to own car is essential.

Details of the Role
* Salary Scale: €30,272 to €37,483 per annum (40-hour week)
* Location: Jerpoint Camphill, R95 YY88
* Duration: Full Time 40hrs per week - Permanent; Part Time 24hrs per week - Permanent
