Boyden have been retained by an Irish owned entity in the Large Venue and Events space to assist in the appointment of a CFO to hold overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of the company. Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will work with all levels of staff, often having to work with various departments to help them plan and manage their own budgets.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead and develop finance team
* Lead and develop the distributed finance functions in the stand-alone divisions
* Developing the form and content of all routine and ad hoc financial reporting in response to the changing operational, oversight and audit requirements
* Work closely with the CEO and trustee council to develop and implement governance initiatives throughout the group to reflect changing needs in the business.
* Lead and manage the budgeting process/formulation of annual budgets and targets
* Cost control; overall control of all financial transactions including payroll, operational and capital expenditure. Preparation and review of accounts. Investigation of variances and intervention where required.
* Manage the procurement approval process (capex, new projects and revenue lines) – setting parameters, facilitating and evaluating submissions, facilitation of approval processes and meetings
* Oversee the upgrade and maintenance of the fixed asset register
* Managing and planning insurance and risk management policies
* Work closely with the Commercial Director on commercial negotiations with customers and key partners
* Control of financial aspects of partner relationships, including credit control, rebates, etc.
* Manage the treasury function, working capital/cashflow, deposits and liaison with CEO regarding distributions and cash reserves.
* Presentation of annual accounts, completion of all year-end routines including taxes, filings and audits
* Tax planning
* Compliance planning (ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met, management of group-wide non-filing, etc)
* Work with senior teams to grow the businesses formulating strategies and plans
Candidate profile
* Qualified Accountant with significant experience of a senior leadership role in finance
* Mature, measured style leading to building deep trust with fellow leaders.
* Good judgement – recognising that existing cultural strengths need to be maintained while being open to continuous improvement (evolution) and where necessary more significant change.
* Strong experience of the application of technology in delivering timely and accurate information for decision-making and for financial control.
* Experience of dealing with large scale venue and event operations.
* Excellent communications and people skills.
