The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing complex, technical materials, components, equipment, and services required for engineering, manufacturing, or operations processes on the client site. This role requires a unique blend of procurement expertise and a strong technical background to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality, cost-effective goods that meet precise technical specifications and regulatory requirements. The Technical Buyer acts as the critical link between the engineering/production teams and the supply base.Key ResponsibilitiesSourcing and Supplier ManagementIdentify, qualify, and develop new suppliers for highly technical and critical components or services, performing comprehensive technical and financial risk assessments.Manage and maintain strong relationships with existing key technical suppliers, ensuring performance, quality, and delivery targets are consistently met.Technical Procurement and NegotiationInterpret and analyse complex technical specifications, blueprints, Statement of Work (SOW), and engineering drawings to accurately define procurement requirements.Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and Purchase Orders (PO) for technical goods and services.Lead complex negotiations on price, terms, delivery schedules, and technical specifications to achieve the best total cost of ownership (TCO) without compromising quality or technical needs.Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and technical discrepancies with suppliers.Strategy and Cost ControlDevelop and implement commodity strategies for assigned technical categories to ensure supply continuity and manage market risk.Proactively identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) and robust supplier selection.Monitor global technical and market trends to anticipate changes in supply, demand, and pricing for critical materials.Internal CollaborationServe as the primary procurement liaison for Engineering, R&D, and Production departments, translating technical needs into procurement actions.Manage the procurement lifecycle from initial specification creation through to final delivery and integration.Key RequirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or relevant technical field) or Supply Chain Management/Business with a proven technical background with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a technical purchasing, strategic sourcing or procurement role.Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.Proven track record of managing and negotiating with global and high-risk technical suppliers.Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and e-procurement tools.Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and relevant industry-specific technical standards.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to work under pressure in a fast paced dynamic environment.For an immediate introduction to this opportunity reach out today
