Elusav Recruitment have an excellent opportunity for a Design Project Manager for a leading European engineering contractor based on a data centre project in Dublin.
The Design Project Manager will be responsible for preparing code compliant fire sprinkler designs using Autocad and Revit based software for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
Responsibilities: Establish the detailed scope for this the detailed scope for this project.
Be exceptionally diligent in managing project changes.
Ensure that a verifiable and verified paper trail exists for all changes.
Deliver all project milestones on time, or ahead of time (all milestones to maintain positive float at all times).
Where this is affected by conditions outside of Company's direct control, ensure that delays and disruption are logged; communicated and appropriate contract notifications sent.
To undertake the detailed design and draughting of Sprinkler drawings for current projects.
Developing of Drawings and supporting documentation to Company Fire Protection standards.
Oversee the Co-ordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings ensuring client spec compliance and Company SOP compliance.
Assessment of Sub-contract and Supplier Tender returns for Technical compliance with design intent specifications.
Coordinate with the project planning department to ensure that every element of the project is delivered ahead of schedule.
Management of the technical submittals and approvals.
Management of the material procurement along with the ordering of material through SAP.
Work hand in hand with the CMT to ensure that design; materials; manpower and schedule are all in place to enable the construction trades can deliver on time, every time.
Ensure Works are installed in accordance with Project specifications and to the Project QA plan.
The designers need to communicate with the CMT to ensure the most efficient methods fabrication and installation can adopted.
Senior designers to sign off QA sheets following design review with designer.
Ensure uniformed drawings are prepared to design standards.
Review and understand design specifications, ensuring design teams are up to speed.
Liaise with commercial team cost implications to design changes / progress issues.
Evaluate and promote the use of new engineering practices and processes to enhance delivery time of the project.
Preparation and agreeing project completion criteria and close out documents and manuals.
Preparing Sub-contract and Supplier Tender Packages in conjunction with Project QS.
Manage the Workpacks process from development, implementation and handover.
Development and use of forward-looking indicators to ensure all elements of the project are delivered in accordance with the project objectives.
Ensure the fire protection system is correctly installed to comply with all relevant standards.
Delivery of accurate and detailed reports.
Attend site meetings.
Requirements: Know When to Delegate: An effective manager knows that some tasks need to be delegated.
Delegate appropriately and demonstrate that you know how to have your team members deliver without badgering them daily.
Organization: You need to be organized in order to be a good manager.
Demonstrate your strategic and tactical goals for your area with associated goals/targets and supporting indicators.
Basic Money Management: Understand basic financial concepts so that you understand how to manage money as part of a project you have been given.
You are required to return at least XX% margin on your part of the project.
This will be reviewed monthly.
Legal Implications: While you don't need to be a law expert, you should have a grasp of the legal implications of contract administration; performance management; sexual harassment, proper hiring and firing practices, confidentiality, and more.
Public Speaking: As a good manager, you should know how to speak publicly.
Demonstrate that you understand your subject when presenting, and confidently convey your intentions and requirements.
Organize and practice your presentations before giving them so that you are clear and concise, and so that your presentation flows well.
Active Listening: One of the most important communication skills is listening.
Make sure you are listening to your workers, superiors and customers, and that you acknowledge them.
Specific: When giving instructions, be specific in what you want, and in expected outcomes.
Make sure your employees understand what should happen and when your require the output to be delivered.
