Key Purpose of the Job:
As a Social Care Worker you will deliver holistic supports, day-to-day living, and person-centred care for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or related mental health needs.
You will empower service users to live to their fullest potential and promote their participation in the community.
Main Responsibilities
Assist service users with all aspects of personal care, ensuring dignity and respect.
Maintain a safe environment for users, colleagues and visitors.
Support users in exercising their rights and making informed decisions.
Encourage users to live according to their wishes, promoting independence and skills.
Deliver care in a low-arousal, non-aversive manner and at the least restrictive level possible.
Set clear goals, steps and timeframes for personal outcomes.
Use evidence-based practices, keeping records and risk assessments complete and up-to-date.
Administer medication safely using the ten-rights framework and document all actions accurately.
Adhere to all policies, procedures and regulatory requirements (HQIA Framework, HIQA, employee handbook).
Participate in service user reviews, MDT meetings and required training sessions.
Contribute positively to team dynamics and professional service delivery.
Person Specification – Social Care Worker
Qualifications & Experience:
Third level qualification in Social Care or a related discipline, or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years' employment experience in a similar role (day services, domiciliary care, residential care, learning disability, autism).
Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour.
CORU registration (or application evidence) where statutory.
Technical and Professional Skills:
Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel for documentation and data management.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (HIQA) and best practice.
Comfortable using intranet/SharePoint for information sharing.
Full UK/ROI driving licence (non-provisional) with access to a vehicle.
