Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Scientist within UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy.
This is a full-time, 24-month Research Scientist position within the UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy, contributing to the Blueprint Project, a Horizon Europe initiative under the Built4People Partnership.
Blueprint adopts a holistic, human-centered approach to urban renovation, blending advanced technologies with participatory processes to create vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable environments where people can live, consume, enjoy, move, and interact. The project reimagines living spaces, mobility systems, and public areas so that the built environment aligns with community aspirations, environmental goals, and social equity. By integrating advanced digital tools such as Digital Twins, AR/VR visualisations, gamification, and interactive citizen dashboards, Blueprint empowers communities and stakeholders to actively shape their urban context, ensuring inclusive participation, transparency, and climate-resilient solutions. The Successful candidate is expected to support in design and deployment of participatory digital tools and living labs, including gamified XR applications, collaborative VR planning environments, and citizen-driven data tools such as Talkative Data using Gen AI models. These innovations will be applied in the Irish pilot and across the consortium to strengthen inclusive, community-led renovation strategies.
Salary Range: €35,000 - €45,000 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
