Children Disability Network Team 1 (North Kerry)
Based in Listowel, Co. Kerry (Outreach to Castleisland/Tralee)
Job Summary
This post is in Network 1 (North Kerry), working as part of an interdisciplinary team providing supports to children and young adults, 0‑18 yrs and their families. The role will include children with Intellectual, Physical, Sensory disability, children on the autistic spectrum and children at risk of or with a developmental delay; where their needs require the support of an interdisciplinary disability team. The team is under the national model of service provision “Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People” led by the HSE. The successful candidate will be employed by the Corlann South Service (formerly Brothers of Charity). The North Kerry team is based in Listowel with an outreach service to Tralee to provide input to families from the Castleisland/Farranfore area.
Assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are provided by an interdisciplinary team. The CDNT aims to maximise the child/young adult’s full potential and works within the context of the family and community, empowering and supporting parents/guardians and family members.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have professional qualification as per the Department of Health guidelines. See job description for full criteria.
Have a university degree or diploma (QQI Level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
Have an Irish post‑graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology or an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
Applicants must have at least five years satisfactory post‑graduate experience in the area of professional psychology, no more than three years of which was spent in gaining the post‑graduate professional qualification and no less than two years full‑time spent in post‑qualification experience as a professional psychologist. Years in excess of the permitted three years for completion of the post‑graduate training or time not worked will not be taken into consideration when assessing the five years’ experience requirement.
Other Requirements
Driving licence – Must have a full driving licence and means of transport which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads.
Age – The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018 sets 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants.
Salary Scale
€99,488‑ €116,942 pro‑rata per annum including 2 LSI’s (DOH Consolidated Scales 1/2/26).
Successful candidates are required to submit all documentary evidence outlining any relevant experience within 3 months of start date. Failure to do so will result in any incremental credit due now being paid only from the date of submission of documents.
