Clerkin Connect is recruiting on behalf of their client based in Clones, Co. Monaghan. Our client is a growing electrical engineering company delivering bespoke electrical, controls, and modular solutions across Ireland. The business operates in a technically demanding environment and is entering an important next phase of development, with plans to expand its Modular offering and support future export activity.
The Role
The Operations Manager - Modular Projects will take end-to-end responsibility for the setup and running of the Modular factory, while also coordinating and overseeing the planning and delivery of all Modular jobs and projects.
This is a senior, hands-on operational role, focused on translating strategy into execution. The successful candidate will bring structure, coordination, and discipline to Modular operations, ensuring that people, production, and projects are aligned to meet programme, quality, safety, and commercial objectives.
The role will work closely with the Managing Directors, EHSQ Officer, commercial team, and site teams and will be central to enabling scalable, repeatable delivery as the Modular business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Modular Factory Setup & Operations
* Lead the setup, commissioning, and operational readiness of the Modular factory.
* Define factory layouts, workflows, and production sequencing to support efficient delivery.
* Establish daily and weekly production planning routines.
* Coordinate factory operations with design, procurement, and site installation activities.
* Drive productivity, efficiency, and continuous improvement across Modular operations.
* Ensure factory activities comply with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental requirements.
Project Planning & Delivery
* Take overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, and delivery of all Modular projects.
* Develop and manage integrated project plans covering:
* Design
* Procurement
* Factory production
* Logistics
* Site installation and commissioning
* Coordinate resources across multiple projects to meet programme commitments.
* Track progress against programme, cost, and delivery milestones.
* Identify and manage risks, constraints, and dependencies across projects.
* Act as the central coordination point between Modular, Controls, and Contracting activities where required.
People & Team Leadership
* Build, lead, and develop the Modular operations team, including supervisors, foremen, and operatives.
* Support recruitment planning in line with the Modular growth plan.
* Set clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
* Coach and support frontline supervisors and team leaders.
* Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and quality.
Commercial & Performance Management
* Work closely with Commercial and Finance teams to:
* Support accurate project costing and forecasting
* Monitor labour and material costs
* Protect and improve project margins
* Ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets and contractual commitments.
* Support project reporting, reviews, and performance analysis.
* Contribute to identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvement.
Systems, Processes & Governance
* Implement and embed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Modular operations and project delivery.
* Support the rollout of systems for:
* Production and capacity planning
* Project tracking and reporting
* Materials and logistics control
* Ensure consistent documentation, reporting, and handover processes.
* Support internal and external audits where required.
About You
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Projects Manager, or senior delivery role.
* Background in construction, electrical, engineering, modular, offsite manufacturing, or industrial environments.
* Experience setting up or managing factory-based operations and/or complex projects.
* Strong planning, coordination, and organisational skills.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams or projects simultaneously.
* Strong leadership and people management capability.
* Commercial awareness with the ability to manage cost, programme, and risk.
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
* Experience in modular, offsite, or factory-based construction/manufacturing.
* Formal project management qualification.
* Exposure to Lean, production planning, or operational excellence methodologies.
* Experience working on export or international projects.
