With over 85 years of operational experience and two advanced cement‑manufacturing plants, our client is a long-established leader in Ireland's heavy industry sector. The successful individual will report to the Engineering Manager and will take a central role in maintaining plant reliability while supporting major engineering and improvement projects.Role ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Mechanical Engineer will operate across both day‑to‑day maintenance and large engineering projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.Work collaboratively with a cross‑functional maintenance teamTake ownership of a defined plant area and its mechanical performanceEnsure preventative and predictive maintenance schedules are carried out effectivelyPlan and coordinate major plant shutdowns, overhauls, and inspectionsManage contractors and ensure work is completed safely and to required standardsImprove plant uptime through proactive troubleshooting and problem resolutionContribute to ongoing improvements in safety, environmental performance, and complianceScope and define projects that enhance plant performance and deliver commercial valueOversee engineering activities from construction through to installationSupport commissioning phases and ensure smooth transition to operationsThese responsibilities may evolve in line with operational demands and the wider objectives of the business.Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:A Mechanical Engineering qualificationStrong understanding of Health & Safety standards in heavy industry environmentsAt least five years' experience in a comparable mechanical engineering roleExcellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsStrong technical capability paired with sound commercial judgementHigh proficiency with MS Office and AutoCADStrong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and meet project deadlinesA proven record of adding value and contributing to the success of previous employersApply today
