RSK Ireland – Senior Ecologist
RSK Ireland, part of RSK Group, is recruiting a driven and passionate Senior Ecologist to join our growing ecology team. This is a permanent full‑time position with a hybrid model and flexibility to work between home and office.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and oversee medium/large projects and tenders from inception to finalisation.
* Handle project finance, resource allocation, sub‑contractor management, risk and quality assurance, and client communication.
* Mentor junior team members and coordinate ecology surveyors for their projects.
* Develop a team in your own ecology discipline (ornithology, bats, freshwater, marine, etc.).
* Maintain professional development by attending conferences, training events, and staying current with industry guidelines.
* Scope survey requirements and design, co‑ordinate and undertake fieldwork for ecological impact assessments and protected species surveys (preliminary appraisal, EcIA, AA Screening Report, Natura Impact Statements, biodiversity management plans).
* Produce accurate technical reports to a professional standard and review reports prepared by colleagues.
* Assist business development by preparing quotations and maintaining good client relationships.
* Work alone and with existing ecologists to ensure quality projects are delivered on time.
* Serve as the point of contact for ecology with clients and provide solid technical advice.
* Complete fieldwork, including out‑of‑hours surveys, travel, and away‑from‑home work as required.
* Collaborate with the ecology team, liaise with senior ecologists, and mentor junior members.
* Conduct project‑specific desk‑top research and keep yourself and the team updated with emerging science.
* Act at all times with professional integrity and exercise sound judgement.
Person Specification (Essential)
* Degree in ecology, zoology, biology, or environmental science.
* 7+ years of specific relevant experience or proven experience in a similar role.
* Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
* Membership of CIEEM – level commensurate with experience.
* Ability to work well within a team and mentor junior colleagues.
* Pro‑active attitude to managing your own time, finding solutions, and delivering work on time and to required standards.
