We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Gardener to manage the ongoing maintenance and development of a busy portfolio of private gardens. This is a hands-on role requiring a high standard of horticultural skill, excellent organisation, and a professional approach to working directly with private clients.The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining gardens to an exceptional standard, working independently across multiple properties while ensuring reliability, discretion, and strong client relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out all aspects of garden maintenance across a portfolio of private clients, ensuring gardens are kept to a consistently high standard.Routine horticultural tasks including pruning, planting, lawn care, weeding, mulching, and seasonal maintenance.Plant health care, including pest and disease identification and appropriate treatmentLawn maintenance including mowing, edging, feeding, aeration, and renovation as required.Seasonal tasks such as border maintenance, deadheading, bulb planting, leaf clearance, and winter preparation.Operate and maintain gardening tools and machinery safely and efficiently.Plan and prioritise workloads across multiple properties to meet seasonal demands and client expectations.Communicate professionally with clients, offering advice and updates where appropriate.Maintain a tidy, organised, and professional appearance at all client sites.Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times.Skills & Experience RequiredProven experience as a professional gardener, ideally within private client portfolios.A minimum of 3 years experience is required.A full clean drivers licence is essential.Strong horticultural knowledge with practical experience across a wide range of plants and garden styles.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple locations.High attention to detail and pride in delivering excellent results.Confident and courteous when dealing with clients.Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Relevant horticultural qualifications (desirable but not essential).Personal AttributesReliable, punctual, and well-organised.Trustworthy and discreet when working on private properties.Proactive and able to anticipate garden and client needs.Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and seasonal priorities.Passionate about gardening and maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces.What We OfferAccess to a vehicle.A stable role managing an established portfolio of private clients.Opportunity to work on a variety of well-maintained and interesting gardensCompetitive salary, dependent on experienceSupportive working environment with scope for long-term development.Expected hours:No less than 40 hrs per week (Mon-Fri)Monday to Friday schedule (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM core hours)Application requirements:Own transport i.e. car/van/bike required to get to site.
