Payroll Specialist / Payroll Lead Co. Wicklow (On-Site) Permanent Role | Growing Company | Full Office-Based Position We are partnering with a progressive and rapidly expanding organisation in Co. Wicklow who are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist / Payroll Lead to take ownership of their end-to-end payroll function. This role blends technical payroll expertise with hands-on problem solving, reporting, and collaboration across Finance and HR. Salary & Benefits: €DOE On-site role with free parking Canteen facilities Supportive and team-focused environment Some flexibility with working hours Regular team events Key Responsibilities: Manage and oversee the end-to-end Irish payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payments for all employees. Ensure compliance with Irish payroll legislation, pensions, union agreements, Revenue requirements, and internal company policies. Reconcile payroll accounts and liaise with Finance on journals, audits, and reporting. Process bonuses, commissions, benefit deductions, and all variable pay elements. Manage year-end activities including statutory returns and reconciliations. Work closely with HR to ensure all employee data is accurate and up to date within payroll systems. Verify employee hours on the job-costing platform, addressing and resolving discrepancies. Work with third-party providers to support international and shadow payrolls, applying local country rules where required. Assist in the integration of new payroll systems or onboarding additional payroll jurisdictions. Produce detailed payroll reports, highlighting trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements. Act as the main contact for employee payroll queries, providing clear, timely resolutions. Support the Finance team with bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations, invoice entry, and general ledger assistance. Requirements: 5+ years experience in payroll, ideally in a senior or lead capacity. Strong knowledge of Irish payroll legislation, pensions, tax, and union agreements. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis). Experience with BrightPay and Sage 50 Accounts (or similar systems). Experience with or willingness to learn international and shadow payrolls. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working independently. High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with HR, Finance, and external providers.
