POSITION SUMMARY The Rathdrum GMT Leader leads a team of Process Development Scientists and Process Engineers, with responsibility for supporting API manufacturing operations in the Rathdrum site. The Rathdrum GMT team are responsible for: ensuring the monitoring and management of the performance of manufacturing processes on site. process development/familiarization, scale-up and transfer of API processes into the site. active involvement in process troubleshooting and continuous process improvement projects in Rathdrum. collaborating with internal teams and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) to support process troubleshooting and continuous process improvement projects throughout the API network. supporting the development of first/second generation technology through collaboration with Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD). The Rathdrum GMT Leader contributes to the development and implementation of site strategy as a key member on the Rathdrum Site Leadership team. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Key objectives of this position include: Providing leadership to site GMT colleagues, mentoring and developing the team. Developing the GMT team with skills to determine future needs of the site. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Establishing GMT team objectives and supporting development of site goals and targets. Working closely with other site leadership team members to ensure appropriate resourcing to deliver site objectives and maintain site schedules. Preparing and managing the annual expense and capital budget for the Rathdrum GMT team. Working with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality to mitigate quality and supply risks related to API and to identify opportunities for continuous process improvement. Taking ownership for supporting the performance of the manufacturing processes, including process monitoring to ensure manufacturing remains in control and manufacturing processes are robust. Promoting and supporting application of Quality by Design (QbD) principles for identification and control of critical process parameters (CPPs). Ensuring the GMT team support/manage improvement projects for improving yield, cycle times, efficiency, MUV, process robustness etc., performing technical studies as required. Ensuring the GMT team support/lead process investigations, as required. Ensuring successful technology transfer of APIs and process technologies. Complying with all safety requirements, ensuring that the GMT laboratories maintain a safe and clean working area. Applying and ensuring compliance with the Zoetis Global Quality Standards and with EU, FDA and other relevant regulations. Participating in inspection readiness and preparation activities, including frontline and backroom support during regulatory site. Participating in Rathdrum site governance meetings, including Change Control Council, Quality Review Council, and EHS Council. Developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues within GMS and VMRD networks, to identify potential value-creating opportunities for process improvements. Keeping abreast of technological advances specific to API process technologies, applying new techniques where appropriate. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS This position reports directly to the GMT API Technology Leader or designee. This position will achieve results through leadership of colleagues with a direct reporting relationship as well as indirectly through partnership as part of the site leadership team. The Rathdrum GMT Leader will collaborate regularly with the Rathdrum Site Lead and Extended Leadership at the site, as well as within Global Manufacturing Technology to assure GMT goals and strategic objectives are met. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE BSc/MSc/PhD in chemistry/chemical engineering 10 years of industry experience, minimum of 5 years of process chemistry experience Mastery of scientific principles, practices and theories with broad process chemistry experience Familiarity with commercial scale equipment and processes Demonstration of strong leadership skills Strong understanding of regulatory and quality requirements Certified Green Belt, and knowledge of six sigma and lean tools preferable.
