Your role is essential in creating a comfortable home for residents and a great working environment for colleagues. You will go beyond tasks to nurture relationships and learn about the rich life stories of older Irish people, forming new friendships with passionate individuals.


Job Purpose:

* Assist in providing care to residents and work as part of a team to achieve high standards.
* Ensure clients retain their dignity and individuality.
* Participate in the general activities of the nursing home.


Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:

* Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
* Effective communication skills at all levels.
* Willingness to be a team player.
* FETEC/NFQ Level 5 or equivalent, with willingness to participate in training and development.


Main Responsibilities:


Care:

* Support clients with daily living activities such as washing, toileting, dressing, and undressing, ensuring comfort and dignity.
* Assist with physical, emotional, and spiritual care needs.
* Support clients with limited mobility or learning difficulties, using aids as needed.
* Monitor clients who are confused or have behavioral issues.
* Promote continence and assist clients with progressive illnesses or end-of-life care.
* Engage clients in social activities and hobbies.
* Respond to nurse call systems, visitors, and messages promptly.
* Report on client wellbeing under supervision.
* Conduct regular checks on clients.
* Welcome visitors and provide refreshments and assistance.
* Make beds, keep rooms clean, and manage waste appropriately.
* Use resources responsibly and maintain equipment.
* Care for clients' clothing and rooms, ensuring proper recording and labeling.
* Maintain privacy and dignity for dying and bereaved clients.
* Assist during meal times, considering dietary needs and swallowing difficulties.
* Escort clients for outings or hospital visits.
* Practice integrity in handling clients' personal and financial affairs.
