Salary Scale: Linked to HSE Consolidated Pay Scale – Supervisor/Instructor (Specialist Agency) (February 2026)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Purpose
As a Support Worker, you will play an important role in supporting individuals to engage in meaningful and fulfilling day activities. Working as part of a supportive team, you will provide person-centred support that respects each individual's dignity, choices and goals. You will have the opportunity to make a positive difference each day – supporting individuals to build confidence, develop life skills and actively participate in their community, in line with New Directions principles.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support in line with individual's goals, preferences and abilities.
Act as a key worker, supporting the development, implementation and review of individual plans and programmes.
Assist in the delivery of meaningful day service activities, including education, training and social opportunities.
Promote independence, autonomy and skill development, supporting individuals to make informed choices.
Encourage and support community participation, including access to new experiences and opportunities.
Communicate effectively with individuals in a way that is accessible and meaningful to them.
Support individuals in practical tasks associated with day programmes and activities.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
Contribute to a culture of safety and wellbeing, following organisational policies and risk management procedures.
Maintain accurate records and complete reports as required.
Participate in training, development, and continuous learning.
Promote a safe and respectful environment, responding appropriately to any safeguarding concerns.

Qualifications

CORU registration as a Social Care Worker (essential).
QQI Level 7/8 in Social Care or a related discipline (or equivalent leading to CORU registration).
Full, clean Irish driving licence.

Experience

Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is desirable.
Experience delivering person-centred support.
Experience delivering positive behaviour support and low arousal approaches is an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of New Directions, Health Act 2007, HIQA, National Standards and other regulatory requirements.
Awareness of key worker role and philosophy of supporting people with intellectual disabilities.
Strong understanding of person-centred and human rights based approaches.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Ability to use initiative, problem-solve, and work independently.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
Good organisational and IT skills.
