Role Description
We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Estimator with a plumbing or pipefitting background to join our team. This is a full-time, hybrid role, based in Naas/ Clonmel, supporting the preparation of accurate cost estimates for mechanical and plumbing aspects of water treatment and industrial projects.
The role offers an excellent opportunity to grow your estimating skills under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing cost estimates for mechanical and plumbing systems, including materials, labour, and equipment.
* Work with project managers and engineers to collect relevant project information.
* Support the preparation of bid submissions and tender documents.
* Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotes for materials and services.
* Maintain cost databases and update pricing information for future projects.
* Assist in tracking project budgets and provide input to help control costs.
* Learn to identify potential risks or cost issues during project planning.
* Participate in post-project reviews to help improve estimating accuracy.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Background in plumbing, pipefitting, or mechanical trade (apprenticeship, diploma, or relevant experience).
* Some experience in estimating or assisting with project costing in construction, mechanical, or plumbing projects is desirable but not essential.
* Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing materials, installation methods, and construction processes.
* Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
* Good attention to detail and ability to follow project documentation.
* Strong communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively.
* Experience with industrial or commercial plumbing systems.
* Basic understanding of water treatment, HVAC, or mechanical services.
* Interest in learning cost estimation software and tools.
* Awareness of health & safety standards in construction and mechanical work.
