Healthcare Catering Assistant – Waterford
Excel Recruitment is currently appointing skilled and dependable Healthcare Catering Assistants to support hospitals and nursing care facilities across Waterford. This role suits individuals who understand the importance of food service in healthcare settings and who take pride in contributing to patient comfort, safety, and wellbeing.
Catering assistant duties:
1. Assist with the preparation and service of meals for patients and residents
2. Ensure strict adherence to dietary plans, allergen controls, and nutritional guidelines
3. Deliver food to wards and resident areas with care, efficiency, and professionalism
4. Maintain high standards of cleanliness across kitchens, service counters, and dining areas
5. Carry out dish-washing and cleaning of catering equipment as required
6. Follow all HACCP, food safety, and infection prevention procedures
7. Work in collaboration with catering teams and healthcare staff to support daily operations
8. Provide a respectful, courteous, and patient-focused service at all times
What We're Looking For:
9. Previous experience within healthcare catering, hospital kitchens, or nursing home environments
10. A strong working knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
11. Ability to work efficiently in a structured, compliance-driven environment
12. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
13. Flexibility to cover a range of shifts
14. Garda Vetting is essential and must be completed prior to placement
15. Willingness to undertake required training, including food safety, infection control, manual handling, safeguarding, and healthcare protocols
