POSTS: Social Care Workers (Permanent Full Time/Part-Time & Temporary)
LOCATION: Strokestown Adult Services – Strokestown, Tulsk, Elphin and Ballinagare Areas. Staff may be allocated within residential/respite/day settings, community services or to individuals in their own homes. The appointment will initially be in one area of the Strokestown Adult services and may change with future needs.
ROLE: Social Care Workers provide a key supportive and advocative role for individuals supported by the service. The role focuses on promoting independence, development of skills, and person‑centred goal setting. Responsibilities include supporting people in developing individual plans, achieving outcomes, making informed choices and encouraging community participation. The successful candidate will also provide local leadership and supervision to ensure person‑centred service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must hold a professional registration, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Care Workers Registrar maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU on or before 30 November 2025. * A full clean manual driving licence is essential. A Class D1 driving licence may also be required – assistance will be provided for attainment.
* Fluency in verbal and written English is essential.
EXPERIENCE:
* Desirable experience working with individuals with intellectual disability and challenging behaviour (full training provided).
* Desirable experience with goal setting and programme implementation using a person‑centred approach.
* Experience working within a staff team and shift leading at times.
SKILLS:
* Leadership and networking – expected to build local community links.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to support goal setting and follow through to outcomes.
* Strong written and verbal communication with good report‑writing and record‑keeping.
* Creativity, initiative and self‑motivation.
* Commitment to best practice, interpersonal cooperation and a person‑centred philosophy.
* Good judgement, discretion and confidentiality.
* Excellent listening skills, patience and a sense of humour.
WORKING HOURS: Various contracts – permanent, full time, part time, temporary and locum. All posts are based on a 14‑day duty roster, with potential for integrated day services, weekend work, split duty hours, public holidays, evening/night duty and sleep‑ins to meet service needs.
ANNUAL LEAVE: 22 days per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time). Appropriate service‑related leave after 5 and 10 years of service.
REMUNERATION: Payscale at €40,351–€55,599 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time), based on a 39‑hour working week. Additional payments for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked.
TENURE: A panel may be formed from which subsequent permanent, temporary or fixed‑term Social Care Worker appointments may be offered over the next 6 to 12 months.
