Civils Operative - Railway
A requirement now exists for the position of Civils Operative to work across various sites on the Iarnród Éireann (IE) and light rail (Luas) infrastructure. Working hours will vary, as the role will involve a mix of day and night shifts, depending on operational and project requirements. Reporting to the GPX Rail Chargehand / Client Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for supporting a range of civil engineering and maintenance works on the railway infrastructure. This includes groundworks, drainage, ducting, fencing, minor concrete works and other associated duties, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently in accordance with railway regulations and company standards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Meet team at designated access point
· Carry out civils and trackside work including but not limited to:
o Saw cutting
o Breaking out rail
o Installing rebar
o Mixing and pouring concrete
o Excavations and reinstatement
o Drainage installation and repairs
o Fencing and boundary works
o General groundworks and site clearance
o Cable ducting and troughing installation
o Lineside structures and chamber installation
· Work safely within possession and isolation windows as per the Client safety standards
· Load and unload van in preparation for works being carried out
· Operate tools and plant in line with safety and training standards
· Complete site paperwork including permits, safety briefings and daily risk assessments
· Maintain PPE that does not compromise safety and ensure all PPE is worn at all times
· Ensure housekeeping is maintained to a high standard
· Play a lead role in relation to attendance and performance
· Ad hoc duties as required
Requirements
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work without supervision
* Experience in civil engineering or groundworks (ideally within rail)
* Awareness of health & safety best practice
* Demonstrate 100% flexibility as no two days will be the same
* Safe Pass Card
* Manual Handling Certificate
* Willingness to work unsociable hours including nights and weekends
* Physically fit and able to carry out demanding work in all weather conditions
Desirable
* Full Irish / EU Driving Licence
* 10 Years Experience (civils experience)
* PTS (Personal Track Safety)
* First Aid
* Abrasive Wheels
* Small Plant / Machinery tickets (CSCS or equivalent)
* 360 Excavator, Site Dumper, Bobcat.
* LUGS or similar cable handling / installation training
