Through advocacy and education, and the provision of services such as Nurses for Night Care and the Bereavement Support Line and our national programmes such as Hospice Friendly Hospitals, Dying Well at Home and Caru – Supporting Care & Compassion at End of Life in Nursing Homes, Adult Bereavement Programme and Irish Childhood Bereavement Network, IHF works to ensure that every person in Ireland can die and grieve well, whatever their age and wherever the place.

About the Role

Job Purpose: This role will involve supporting a specific project within Irish Hospice Foundation. Irish Hospice Foundation, in collaboration with the National Palliative Care Office (HSE), are developing bereavement service provision within palliative care in line with the recommendations of the National Adult Palliative Care Policy (2024). This role will be 16 months from September 2025.

Salary: €15,415 - €18,135 (20-hour contract) depending on experience

€28,518 - €33,551 (pro rata) FTE

Contract Type:Part-time fixed term contract

(20 hours a week – contract will run until 31st December 2026)

Job Location: Our offices are based on Nassau St., Dublin 2. We have a hybrid work model in place (a minimum requirement of 2 days a week in the office).

Reporting to: Project Manager - Bereavement Development in Palliative Care

Responsibilities:

1. Data Management: Organize information, data and materials generated through the different phases of the project. Generate output reports, including texts, tables and graphs
2. Meeting and event organization: Schedule and manage consultation sessions and meetings with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and timely arrangements.
3. Advisory Group Secretariat: Provide Secretariat for the project's Advisory Group, including dissemination of agendas and papers, take action minutes etc.
4. Service Mapping: Assist the Project Manager in conducting a national mapping of bereavement supports and services.
5. General Administrative Support: Perform routine administrative tasks as assigned.
6. Policy & Records Management: Maintain policies and records in line with GDPR and data retention requirements.
7. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager or designated staff member, including supporting the IHF main telephone reception function as required.

Any other tasks as may be assigned by the manager or designated person.

Qualifications and Experience

IHF is open to applications from candidates who have experience in most but not all of the following areas. The successful candidate will be supported through their induction to increase their knowledge and ability to deliver on the responsibilities outlined here. Further training and ongoing support will be available.

Essential:

8. A high degree of emotional intelligence and empathy
9. Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role
10. Excellent organisational, administration and data management skills
11. Proven ability to multi-task, be self-directed and manage time effectively.
12. Strong communication, interpersonal and team skills
13. Excellent attention to detail
14. Enthusiastic, warm friendly manner
15. Ability to respond quickly to a small busy team
16. Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Zoom and MS Teams.
17. Experience of managing and reporting on large datasets

Desirable:

18. Experience of the charity sector
19. Good working knowledge of SurveyMonkey or other online survey tools.
