Senior Embedded Software Engineer

IT Search has partnered with a well-funded MedTech company based in Dublin that's entering an exciting growth phase following a recent funding round. As the team scales, they're looking to hire a Senior Embedded Software Engineer with strong experience developing software for regulated products.
The company develops non-invasive medical devices used in real clinical environments. This role offers the opportunity to join a growing engineering team with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and well-structured engineering practices.
The Role
You'll play a key role in the development of embedded software across the full product lifecycle, working closely with hardware, QA, and regulatory teams to deliver compliant, production-ready medical devices.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for medical devices
* Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements through to verification and release
* Develop software on bare-metal systems and FreeRTOS using ARM microcontrollers
* Contribute to architecture decisions and technical direction as the product scales
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, etc.)
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* 5+ years' experience as an Embedded Software Engineer
* Strong C programming skills with solid bare-metal development experience
* Proven experience working with FreeRTOS
* Hands-on experience with ARM-based microcontrollers
* Strong understanding of structured software development lifecycles in regulated environments
Highly Desirable:
* Background in regulated industries such as medical devices, automotive, or aerospace
* Experience contributing to verification, validation, and documentation processes
* Exposure to C++
* Experience with SoC or FPGA-based systems
Package
Salary up to €75,000, plus bonus, pension, and stock options. The office is based in Dublin City Centre, with 2–3 days onsite per week expected.
