Job Summary:
The role of a healthcare assistant is to provide care and support to residents in a nursing home environment.
* To deliver high-quality care, you will assist residents with their daily needs, such as washing, dressing, and feeding.
* You will work closely with the care team to achieve excellent standards and ensure that all residents retain their dignity and individuality.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in providing care to residents, including supporting them with their personal care needs.
2. Work as part of a team to achieve excellent standards of care and customer service.
3. Ensure that residents' needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
4. Participate in regular checks on residents at intervals determined by senior staff members.
5. Make visitors feel welcome and provide refreshments/assistance as required.
6. Maintain a clean and tidy environment, adhering to the company's attention to detail philosophy.
7. Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with residents' personal and financial affairs.
8. Assist clients who need help during meal times and escort them on social outings or hospital visits if required.
Requirements:
* A genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Willingness to be a team player.
* FETEC/NFQ 5 or equivalent and a willingness to participate in training and development.
Main Responsibilities
Care:
* Ensure the highest levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting residents when required with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.
* Assist residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g., physical, emotional, and spiritual). Provide attention when needed while ensuring residents retain their comfort and dignity.
* Pay particular attention to assisting residents who have limited mobility or physical/learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided.
* Closely monitor residents who may be confused and/or who have behavioral problems.
* Assist in the promotion of continence.
* Assist in the delivery of care for residents who are dying or who have a progressive illness. Assist with last offices.
* Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the care centre.
* Answer nurse call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly and pass on messages promptly.
