We are currently recruiting a Senior Toolmaker / Toolmaker to join our Plant Engineering Department. This is a full‑time shift role. Candidates must be fully flexible to work a 3‑cycle shift pattern. What You’ll Be Doing
Tooling Maintenance, Repair & Improvement
Manufacture, repair, service and enhance all tooling, jigs and fixtures (form tools, progression tools, perforation tooling, rollform equipment, etc.).
Attend production breakdowns, diagnose root causes and implement timely, effective solutions.
Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and engineering‑level tooling modifications.
Monitor tooling longevity, machine performance and production efficiency.
Protect company and customer assets, ensuring tooling integrity throughout all production stages.
Manufacturing Excellence
Set up tooling in presses ranging from 50‑500 tons.
Operate, set and (where applicable) program CNC, PLC and robotic equipment.
Work with aluminium, stainless steel and other specialised materials.
Use precision measurement instruments (micrometers, gauges, Vernier calipers) to ensure exact tolerances.
Support new project tooling from commissioning through to SOP, including prototyping and design input.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Work cross‑functionally with engineers, operators and production leaders to deliver world‑class tooling performance.
Participate in 6S, Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
Enhance departmental performance through operational excellence and best practice.
Leadership & Mentorship (Senior Level)
Provide hands‑on leadership, coaching and technical support to toolmakers and apprentices.
Foster a culture of safety, quality and high performance.
Ensure compliance with all H&S, environmental and quality procedures.
What You Bring
Qualified Toolmaker (Level 4) – 4+ years post‑apprenticeship experience preferred.
Strong experience in press tool maintenance, breakdown support and precision tooling.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to support production needs, including 3‑cycle shift work.
Experience in the automotive industry is a distinct advantage.
CNC/PLC/robotic experience is a strong plus.
