The role
Responsibilities
Conceptualization & Design: Creating original concepts, sketching designs on paper, and generating detailed illustrations for new collections or custom commissions.
Technical Drawing & 3D Modeling: Translating sketches into precise 3D models using Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) software, specifying measurements, and ensuring manufacturability.
Material Selection: Identifying and selecting precious metals, diamonds, and gemstones, considering factors such as quality, cost, and aesthetic value.
Production & Prototyping: Preparing wax models, casting components, soldering, and overseeing the manufacturing process with goldsmiths and suppliers.
Quality Control & Finishing: Inspecting finished pieces for accuracy, cleaning, polishing, and repairing jewelry.
Client Collaboration & Marketing: Meeting with clients to define project constraints, setting budgets, and creating trend‑focused designs for brand collections.
Appraiser Duties: Conducting detailed examinations of gold‑based items to determine purity, weight, authenticity; valuing pieces and materials; researching and evaluating pieces and materials; testing using acid tests, electronic testers, and density meters.
Customer Service: Interacting with clients professionally and in a friendly manner, answering questions about appraisal procedures.
Research & Market Information: Staying informed about market trends, prices, and regulations for accurate evaluations.
Collaboration: Working with sales associates and jewellers to ensure smooth customer service and accurate pricing.
Maintenance of Equipment: Calibrating and maintaining appraisal equipment to provide accurate results.
Additional Duties: Designing new pieces and building molds; restoring old or broken pieces; making new pieces; cleaning and polishing jewelry; keeping informed about industry changes.
