Job Description
The Country Shop is seeking a friendly and organized General Operative to join our vibrant team. As a General Operative, you will be responsible for blending front-of-house customer service with back-of-shop grocery and hardware duties.
This is a hands-on, varied role that requires excellent customer service and communication skills. You will need to be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Greet and assist customers with queries at tills and in-store
* Operate the till accurately and handle payments
* Stock shelves with groceries, refrigerated deli products (no sandwich-making or hot food)
* Help customers find DIY and hardware items (workwear, paint, small tools)
* Keep the store tidy and presentable, including cleaning and shelf rotation
* Support inventory tasks: stock-checks, pricing, and labelling
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
* Strong organisational ability with great attention to detail
* Basic IT confidence (till systems, pricing tools)
* Flexible availability for weekday, evening and weekend shifts
