Purpose of the Role
The Tax Director is a senior leadership position that supports the Partners in driving the strategic direction, growth, and delivery of the firm’s tax services. Acting as a key member of the Tax leadership team, you will oversee complex tax advisory and compliance projects, provide expert technical and commercial guidance, and help shape the firm’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee the delivery of complex tax advisory, planning, and compliance engagements for a diverse portfolio of high‑value clients, ensuring technical accuracy and commercial relevance.
* Work closely with Partners to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive the growth and success of the tax practice.
* Provide expert technical guidance on complex tax matters, offering innovative and commercially sound solutions to meet client objectives.
* Manage and review high‑level tax planning projects, including corporate restructurings and succession planning for business owners.
* Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, building and maintaining strong, long‑term relationships through proactive communication and strategic insight.
* Oversee and mentor other team members, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional development.
* Represent the firm in dealings with Revenue and other regulatory bodies, managing complex queries and audits with professionalism and authority.
* Keep abreast of evolving tax legislation, regulatory developments, and industry trends, ensuring the firm remains at the forefront of technical and strategic excellence.
* Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, supporting tender and proposal preparation, and enhancing the firm’s market presence.
* Collaborate with Partners on firm‑wide initiatives, operational improvements, and the continuous enhancement of service quality and client experience.
Qualifications
* Professional qualification: CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA (or equivalent).
* Proven experience in Corporate Tax or Mixed Tax within a professional practice environment at a senior management or director level.
* Broad experience working with clients across multiple sectors, with the ability to adapt technical expertise to varied business contexts.
* Strong, up‑to‑date technical knowledge of Irish tax legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply complex tax rules effectively.
* Demonstrated analytical capability to conduct detailed research into complex areas of tax law and develop practical, commercially focused solutions.
* Leadership experience managing teams, multiple engagements, and mentoring junior colleagues to achieve high standards of performance and client service.
* Strong relationship‑management skills, with a proven track record of delivering high‑quality advice and building long‑term client partnerships.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
