Summary

This new role has been created to support Everest's rapidly expanding International Insurance business. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a variety of initiatives within the risk management function, contributing to the enhancement of risk management as an integral part of the International Insurance expansion strategy. Key responsibilities include quantitative insurance and financial risk management, including pricing, reserving, exposure management, ceded reinsurance, stress & scenario testing, investment, solvency and liquidity risks.

The role holder will collaborate with senior colleagues across multiple functional areas and international offices, influencing strategic decisions and shaping the future development of the risk function. They will provide risk-based insights to support Everest in making informed business decisions.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience within the non-life insurance sector and a deep understanding of non-life insurance and financial risks. They will be self-motivated, well-organised and able to manage and prioritise a range of activities in a rapidly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Promote a strong risk culture throughout the organisation.
2. Provide independent oversight of quantitative risks, including insurance risk: reserving, exposure management, ceded reinsurance, solvency, investment, and other related risks.
3. Develop, implement and embed an increasingly sophisticated risk management framework to manage these risks.
4. Establish and review quantitative risk appetites.
5. Review and challenge the annual financial plan.
6. Coordinate and challenge modelling aspects of ORSA (modelling is carried out in first line).
7. Conduct deep dive reviews of selected risks within remit.
8. Collaborate with stakeholders to provide risk management advice, support, oversight and challenge.
9. Attend relevant management committees.
10. Produce risk management papers and reports for Management, Risk Committee and Board, as required.

Requirements:

1. Extensive knowledge and understanding of quantitative non-life insurance and financial risks.
2. Experience of Solvency II pillar 1 requirements.
3. Non-life actuarial experience is desirable.
4. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
5. Ability to influence and develop effective working relationships across the business.
