Field Service Engineer – Thermal / Refrigeration (Ireland)
Location: Ireland – Field based. Approx. 80% Dublin / Leinster, 20% nationwide travel (Cork, Limerick, etc.).
Schedule: Full-time, with participation in an on‑call rota and out‑of‑hours support as required.

About The Role
Vertiv is hiring a Field Service Engineer – Thermal / Refrigeration to join our expanding service team in Ireland.
In this field‑based role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis, emergency repair, and servicing of Vertiv’s Thermal Management and liquid cooling solutions, as well as other contracted customer systems.
You will act as the face of Vertiv on‑site, delivering high‑quality technical service while building strong customer relationships and ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company and legislative standards.
This role offers excellent exposure to cutting‑edge thermal and liquid cooling technologies on some of Irelands biggest datacentres projects, along with opportunities for travel across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Respond professionally to planned maintenance and emergency service calls.
Perform maintenance, fault finding, and repair activities on thermal and refrigeration systems.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies, codes of practice, and legislation.
Maintain a planned maintenance completion rate of at least 90%.
Communicate effectively with scheduling teams regarding job status and schedule changes.
Complete job closures, reports, and documentation accurately and on time using Oracle MFS and FieldDB systems.
Identify and report potential sales or service opportunities.
Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment to a high standard.
Participate in the on‑call rota and support out‑of‑hours service requirements.
Work collaboratively within the service team to support wider business objectives.
Essential
What You’ll Bring
NVQ Level 1 & 2 (or equivalent qualification) in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
City & Guilds 2078 or 2079 in Refrigerant Safe Handling.
ACRIB subscription.
Previous experience in Thermal, Refrigeration, Cooling, or HVAC service roles.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, plan workloads, and manage time effectively.
Clean, valid driving licence.
Desirable
IT and reporting skills.
Experience working in critical environments such as data centres.
A proactive, safety‑first mindset.
Work Environment
This is a field‑based role with regular travel across Ireland. You’ll be supported with structured training, modern tools, and the backing of a collaborative, safety‑focused service team.
