Job Title: Sustainability Manager
Job Overview:
In this role, you will lead our sustainability
initiatives, ensuring that our operations align with environmental, social, and
economic sustainability goals. You will be responsible for driving initiatives to reduce the company's environmental footprint, optimising resource usage,
ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations, and engaging internal and
external stakeholders in our sustainability journey.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sustainability
Strategy Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies specific to
the manufacturing or industrial sector. Align sustainability goals with
overall business objectives, focusing on energy efficiency, waste
reduction, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
2. Carbon
Footprint Management:
Monitor, analyse, and implement plans to reduce the company's carbon
footprint. Work towards meeting carbon reduction targets and regulatory
requirements.
3. Resource
Efficiency & Waste Reduction:
Design and implement initiatives aimed at improving resource efficiency
(energy, water, raw materials) and reducing waste across manufacturing
processes. Promote a circular economy approach where feasible, including
recycling and reusing materials.
4. Compliance
& Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and industry
standards including Origin Green, ISO 14001 & Stay up to date
on local and international sustainability regulations affecting the
manufacturing industry.
5. Sustainability
Reporting & Communication:
Lead the preparation of sustainability reports for internal stakeholders,
clients, and regulatory bodies, ensuring transparency and accountability
in the company's sustainability performance.
6. Green
Product Development:
Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate sustainability principles into
product design and development. Ensure the sustainability of new products
throughout their lifecycle, from sourcing to disposal or recycling.
7. Employee
Engagement & Training:
Develop training programs and initiatives to engage employees in
sustainability practices, from energy saving to waste management, creating
a sustainability -minded culture throughout the organisation.
8. Supplier
& Supply Chain Sustainability:
Work with suppliers and partners to implement sustainability practices
within the supply chain. Promote sustainable sourcing, ethical practices,
and reduced environmental impact throughout the supply chain.
9. Energy
Management:
Oversee energy management initiatives, including monitoring energy
consumption, recommending efficiency improvements, and adopting renewable
energy where possible.
10. Innovation
& Continuous Improvement:
Stay informed about new technologies, trends, and best practices in
sustainability and manufacturing. Lead efforts to introduce innovative
solutions that improve sustainability performance and operational
efficiency.
11. Budget
& Resource Management:
Manage the budget for sustainability projects, ensuring efficient use of
resources and achieving key sustainability goals within budgetary
constraints.
Qualifications and Skills:
12. A
degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Industrial Engineering,
or a related field.
13. Proven
experience (3+ years) in sustainability management within a manufacturing
or industrial setting.
14. Strong
knowledge of sustainability regulations, carbon management, waste
reduction, and energy efficiency in industrial operations.
15. Experience
with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and other relevant environmental management
systems.
16. Strong
project management skills with a proven ability to implement
sustainability initiatives across departments and teams.
17. Ability
to analyse complex data, produce reports, and make informed decisions
based on performance metrics.
18. Exceptional
communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior
management, external partners, and employees at all levels.

environmental and social outcomes.
