Purpose of Position:The primary purpose of this position is to manage and provide care of the highest professional standards which meets the practical, physical and emotional needs of our residents and to assist them to achieve their highest level of functioning in order to maintain independence or improve skills that will make them more independent.Within a person-centered care philosophy, the House Manager, in co-operation with the PIC will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the house. He/She will ensure services to residents are provided in a safe and caring environment within a relationship which is based on respect and equality and that promotes the independence of the residents.The House Manager will be responsible for the supervision and assessment of staff under his/her direction and to take a leadership role in clinical governance including quality assurance, practice development and clinical practice. He/She will also be responsible for building and maintaining professional communication with the MDT, families and other personnel as required.In the absence of the PIC, the House Manager will be required to assume appropriate management responsibilitiesKey Duties & Responsibilities:Under the direction of the PIC, you will be responsible for the following, ensuring our core values of Energy, Kindness, Empowerment, Quality and Happiness are met at all times:· Assist in the implementation of clinical policies and guidelines which supports person-centre services in line with National Quality Standards· Role model a culture within the workplace which supports the core values of Embrace· Manage client care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based approach to ensure clinical effectiveness and efficiency· Coordinate and prioritise appointments with MDT team· Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve resident satisfaction· Work under the direction of the PIC to ensure that the highest possible standards of care are maintained at all times· Actively promote the participation of the residents in the planning of the house· Immediately report any incidents of concern involving staff members or residents to the PIC in accordance with Embrace's incident reporting policy· Act as a keyworker for a named resident where appropriate· Provide individualized support using a facilitative approach to personal care whilst always maintaining the resident's right to dignity and respect· Work in partnership with the MDT team, family and others to support the resident to work towards and achieve their personal goals, guided by their individual care plan· Promote the social interaction of residents with the wider community in accordance with their choice and personal goals· Provide support and supportive supervision to all frontline staff where appropriate· Ensure staff are fully informed on all matters affecting day to day running of the service and that lines of communication are clear and implemented by all staff· Report matters concerning disciplines, grievances, incidents and complaints to PIC as required· Supervise assigned students on work placement and volunteers where required· Ensure safe practice in relation to medication as governed by An Bord Altranais and Embrace policies and guidelines· Communicate with residents in a clear and respectful manner, being aware of their individual level of skills and abilities· Communicate with family, visitors and other professionals in a courteous and professional manner· Document and relay information to relevant people as required i.e. families, MDT team· Plan for the conservation and economical use of supplies, heating, light, goods and equipment· Maintain adequate stocks in the assigned area/unit and manage their use in an efficient and effective manner· maintain and promote a safe environment that complies with health & safety and other legal requirements· Ensure the house, fixtures and fittings and vehicles are maintained in good condition, encouraging staff and residents to care for their surroundings and make best use of available resources· Undertake all mandatory Health & Safety training i.e. manual handling, fire safety· Perform duties in a manner conducive to health and safety and in accordance with Embrace policies and procedures· Work with the PIC in identifying risks to residents within the house and in the community· Ensure that services are in compliance with the requirements of the Health, Safety & Welfare at Work Act 2005· Ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities in the event of an emergency / incident· Ensure hygiene standards are maintained throughout the house· Immediately report and document all incidents and accidents involving residents, visitors or staff are recorded in line with Embrace policies and procedures and all statutory reports are completed· Maintain records in an accurate and concise manner e.g. daily reports, financial records, care plans, communication books, etc.· Support residents to manage their personal finances and document all transactions· Manage and maintain household expenditure records and other records attached to the running of the house where required· Ensure receipts are in place and accounts are maintained for all expenditure· Ensure that files are up to date and stored in an orderly and secure fashion to ensure resident confidentiality· Be aware of current developments within relevant professional and maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development (including Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) requirements for continuing professional development (where appropriate)· Promote, attend and participate in education and training courses, including external courses as required by the needs of the resident and in accordance with company policy and national standards i.e. Adult Protection· Educate and support all staff including the induction of new staff and support line management in the ongoing performance appraisal· Assist in the implementation of National Residential Standards (HIQA) / Accreditation Standards· Undertake training identified for continuous professional development· Chair staff meetings as requested by the PIC, ensuring notes are recorded· Show willingness and commitment to review and change work practices in line with training and service developments· Attend supervision sessions with PIC / Management· Attend performance appraisal meetings as required with PICEssential Qualifications and Experience:· Hold a Level qualification in Social Care / Applied Social Care or equivalentOR· Hold a Nursing Degree (be registered in the relevant division of the Live Register of Nurses maintained by Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be entitled to be so registeredAND· Have a minimum 2 years managerial experience within the Health Sector· Hold a recognized Managerial Qualification (minimum Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications)· A kind and compassionate personality· Strong communication and interpersonal skills· Fluent English·
