Job Description
Trinity College Dublin is Ireland’s leading university, ranked 75th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2026). The School of Histories and Humanities seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of modern Japanese history (19th and 20th centuries) in the Department of History.
The role will involve:
Engaging in research and teaching on modern Japanese history.
Contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in modern history.
Supervising postgraduate research in the faculty’s area of expertise.
Minimum qualifications:
PhD in History or a related field.
Evidence of a strong record of research and publication in modern Japanese history.
Other requirements:
Starting date: 1 September 2026.
Contract: Specific Purpose Contract, duration linked to a secondment to the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute.
Salary: Assistant Professor Salary Scale (109) €43,425 to €103,582 per annum.
