DML-9-25-222 Clinical Placement Coordinator
Location: HSE Dublin and Midlands
A permanent / full-time position within an agreed current location in the HSE Dublin and Midlands region. A panel may be formed from this campaign for current and future vacancies in the clinical placement area.
Purpose of post
The purpose of the Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC) post is to guide and support undergraduate nursing students during their supernumerary and internship clinical placements, as part of the BSc Nursing Programme(s).
The CPC must ensure that all clinical areas across the agreed sites meet NMBI regulatory requirements and standards as approved clinical learning environments. The CPC will provide a quality educational and supportive service to nursing students and staff on undergraduate nursing training programmes.
The CPC will also ensure the organisation and provision of clinical learning supports for all students across the clinical learning environments and involvement in practice development projects as required.
Responsibilities
* Guide and support undergraduate nursing students during clinical placements (supernumerary and internship).
* Ensure clinical areas meet NMBI regulatory requirements and standards for approved learning environments.
* Provide a quality educational and supportive service to students and staff on undergraduate nursing training programmes.
* Organise and provide clinical learning supports across clinical learning environments.
* Engage in practice development projects as required.
Eligibility Criteria - Qualifications and experience
* Statutory registration, professional qualifications, experience, etc.
* Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses or Midwives (NMBI) or be eligible for registration.
* Be registered in a division of the register for the application, or in exceptional circumstances be registered in another division (case by case).
* Have completed a post-registration programme of study with QQI/NFQ Level 8 (60 ECTS) or higher relevant to education or health-related subject, or provide evidence of 60 ECTS credits equivalent to Level 8 or higher.
* Minimum of 5 years post-registration full-time experience, or 5 years full-time experience in the relevant division, with at least 2 years in a practice learning environment.
* Completed a Teaching and Assessing or Preceptorship in Practice course, programme or module.
* Demonstrate clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to discharge the role’s functions.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Ability to practice safely and effectively within scope of practice.
* Maintains live annual registration with NMBI and annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
* Candidate must be fully competent and of good character; in health fit for service.
