Overview
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a 14-month full-time position as a Postdoctoral Researcher, with specific expertise in advanced microscopy for analysis of microbial biofilms, in the Siggins Lab, at the University of Galway, Ireland.
Project and team
This position is funded by a Royal Society / Research Ireland University Research Fellowship (URF\\R1\\221528) awarded to Dr Alma Siggins, and is available from 01 July 2026 to contract end date of 31 August 2027.
The Siggins Lab is a dynamic research group focusing on Environmental Biotechnology and Microbiology. The successful applicant to this post will be joining the URF project team, which is investigating the role of biochar in aerobic methane oxidation. They will be specifically tasked with developing microscopy approaches for imaging of microbial cells, to advance understanding of methanotrophic community structure and function in biotechnologically important biofilms.
Salary
Salary: Postdoctoral Researcher salary scale €46,305 - €59,063 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
