**Senior Medical Scientist Position Overview**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Scientist to join our team in Chemical Pathology. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in laboratory management, technical work, and leadership skills.
* The successful candidate will be responsible for performing technical work to the highest standard, supervising medical scientists and assistants, and organizing the technical programme.
* They will also carry out routine inspections of laboratory equipment, ensure proper maintenance, and introduce new methods to improve efficiency.
* In addition, they will assist in implementing safety measures, represent the Chief Medical Scientist at meetings, and maintain up-to-date knowledge through training and courses.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Perform technical work under the direction of the Chief Medical Scientist.
* Supervise and guide medical scientists and assistants in their duties.
* Organize the technical programme for efficient work patterns.
* Carry out routine equipment inspections and maintenance.
* Collaborate with the Chief Medical Scientist to improve efficiency and introduce new methods.
* Assist in implementing safety measures and training staff.
* Represent the Chief Medical Scientist at meetings and maintain up-to-date knowledge.
**Required Qualifications and Skills:**
* Statutory Registration on the Medical Scientists Register maintained by CORU.
* A postgraduate qualification at minimum Level 9, such as MSc Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
* Four years of full-time clinical experience as a medical scientist in a clinical diagnostic laboratory.
* Demonstrated Continuous Professional Development and the requisite knowledge and ability for the position.
* Proof of Statutory Registration on the Medical Scientists Register maintained by CORU before appointment.
**Annual Registration Requirements:**
* Maintain annual registration on the Medical Scientists Register.
* Confirm annual registration with CORU through the Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
