What Technical Director Geochemistry Jobs are...Showing 3 Technical Director Geochemistry jobs in NaasOverviewAt WSP we offer an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director Geochemist/Hydrogeochemist to join our UK & Ireland Mine Water Team as part of WSP Mining & Metals on a full‑time basis based in the UK or Ireland. This senior leadership role combines technical leadership, project direction, business development and client relationship management.Key Responsibilities – GeochemistProvide technical expertise on permitting, baseline studies, engineering studies, operational support and closure projects in the mining industry and other sectors.Collaborate at all levels of the Mining Team and across the business to strategise and implement business objectives.Manage projects: draft proposals and cost estimates, liaise with clients, handle financial management and invoices, oversee project closure and collect client feedback.Lead, mentor and support a team of scientists, engineers and other professionals in the Mine Water team to enhance career development, technical expertise and commercial awareness.Participate in global corporate technical practice groups to elevate technical excellence, innovation and visibility.Engage in business development activities, including proposal and bid preparation, marketing, and participation in tradeshows and conferences.Support the development and maintenance of client relationships to actively seek and win new work.Travel within the UK/Ireland and overseas as business requires.Model safety awareness in line with WSP’s health, safety and wellbeing culture, promoting positive safety practices and adhering to WSP policy and procedures.Ensure actions and behaviours align with WSP’s Equality Policy, values and Code of Conduct.Qualifications – GeochemistEstablished reputation with a history of winning repeat business.Demonstrated experience of technical leadership, collaboration and delivery.Substantial and broad experience in mine water geochemistry.Commitment to internal and external client service.Proven track record in managing and contributing to large, multidisciplinary projects.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (technical, business development and strategy).Advanced degree (MSc or Ph.D) or equivalent in geochemistry, hydrogeochemistry, applied or environmental geology/chemistry.Passion for innovation and lifelong learning, ability to solve complex challenges.Knowledge of national and international geochemical best‑practice guidelines and regulations.Ability to manage and work effectively within a team environment.Professional registration or working towards it and commitment to Continuous Professional Development.Strong writing skills including technical reports and proposals; English proficiency required, proficiency in a second language (French or Spanish) valued.Key Responsibilities – Water Resources EngineerProvide senior technical direction, review and sign‑off of work within your professional practice area.Deliver practice‑leading consulting services in conceptual model development, hydraulics, engineering design, mine water management, stormwater management, flood lines, hydrology, water conservation and demand management, and water balances.Direct and review water‑resource aspects of international mining and water‑resources projects, including environmental assessments, permitting and engineering design.Perform climatic, hydrological and hydraulic assessments, fieldwork, data management, data analysis and modelling.Create integrated water‑management plans and complete conceptual design of water‑management infrastructure.Conduct water‑balance modelling to assess solutions and estimate demand, treatment, storage and discharge volumes.Undertake pre‑feasibility, feasibility and detailed designs of water‑management infrastructure (e.g., open channels, sewers, culverts, spillways, energy dissipators, holding and settling ponds, pumping systems) with capital and operating cost estimates.Perform dam‑break analyses of water and tailings dams, developing inundation maps, delineating self‑rescue zones and classifying risk.Conduct dilution and assimilative‑capacity assessments of surface‑water receivers of effluent.Perform flood‑risk assessments (FRA) and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) design for land‑development projects.Assist in developing climate‑change reporting, resilience and adaptation services, including nature‑based solutions.Participate in and lead multidisciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting projects; deliver safely, on time, within budget and to client and WSP standards.Achieve and maintain utilisation targets agreed with your People Manager and reviewed annually.Undertake project‑based travel and site work in the UK and internationally as required.Qualifications – Water Resources EngineerBachelor’s degree in engineering, hydrology or a related field; postgraduate qualification in engineering or environmental management.Registered Chartered/Professional Engineer or member of a related professional body.Proactive approach to technical service delivery.Experience in developing client relationships and contributing to business and market‑share growth.Ability to operate within and guide high‑performing teams.High‑level communication and presentation skills.Track record of winning work.Developed project delivery and direction experience.Degree qualified within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology with strong emphasis on soil mechanics.Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations.Mining and geotechnical experience relating to mine waste disposal/facilities.Ability to interpret and monitor results and use a variety of tools to monitor and design geotechnical structures and assist clients with operational requirements.Ability to manage and work effectively within a team environment.Chartered professional with a relevant body.Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally, and occasionally to remote environments.Benefits and Work‑Life BalanceHybrid working: two days a week from home with opportunities to collaborate in modern offices across the UK.Inclusive culture that welcomes applicants with varied backgrounds;
