Senior Cybersecurity Engineer - Level 3
Location: Dublin | Type: Full-Time | Salary: €70,000-€85,000
A major Irish technology-driven organisation is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to take ownership of threat management and security engineering initiatives within its growing cyber operations function. This role suits someone who thrives in complex environments and enjoys leading technical projects, mentoring others, and strengthening enterprise defences through innovation and automation.
The Role
You'll be a senior point of escalation for incident response and threat hunting activities, ensuring the organisation's critical systems are protected from emerging risks. You'll work closely with security architects, analysts, and infrastructure teams to design, implement, and optimise security controls across cloud and on-prem environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead incident response activities and coordinate investigations across teams.
2. Develop and fine-tune SIEM and EDR detections to identify emerging threats.
3. Perform advanced threat analysis, hunting, and vulnerability assessments.
4. Guide and mentor junior engineers on detection engineering and response workflows.
5. Contribute to automation, scripting, and integration of new security technologies.
6. Collaborate with compliance and architecture teams to ensure alignment with frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS).
7. Present findings and security metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
8. 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, operations, or threat detection.
9. Deep understanding of SOC operations, incident response, and modern attack techniques.
10. Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and cloud security tools.
11. Strong scripting or automation knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or similar).
12. Familiarity with Azure or AWS environments.
13. Certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or OSCP are advantageous.
