Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM)Location: Flannery's Nursing Home, County Galway, IrelandReports to: Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)Job Summary:Flannery's Nursing Home is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Clinical Nurse Manager to lead one of our nursing units. The CNM will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the unit, providing strong clinical leadership to a team of Staff Nurses and Healthcare Assistants. The successful candidate will be a clinical expert who champions person-centred care, ensures the highest standards of nursing practice, and fosters a positive, collaborative environment for both residents and staff.Key Responsibilities:1. Clinical Practice & Resident Care:Lead the nursing team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident care, ensuring all care plans are person-centred and up-to-date.Act as the clinical expert and primary point of contact for residents, providing hands-on nursing care and managing complex clinical needs.Oversee medication management on the unit, ensuring strict adherence to NMBI guidelines and facility policies.Conduct regular resident care rounds to monitor care standards, ensure comfort, and address any immediate needs.Promote resident independence, dignity, and choice in all aspects of daily life.2. Team Leadership & Staff Management:Provide direct line management, supervision, and support to Staff Nurses and Healthcare Assistants on the unit.Manage the unit roster to ensure safe staffing levels and appropriate skill mix for the residents' needs.Delegate duties effectively and provide clear direction to the team.Mentor junior staff and new team members, fostering their professional development.Assist the ADON with staff appraisals and address any performance or conduct issues at the unit level.3. Quality Assurance & Compliance:Drive a culture of safety and quality on the unit.Conduct regular clinical audits (e.g., wound care, infection control, falls management, documentation) and implement action plans for improvement.Ensure all clinical documentation is completed accurately, confidentially, and in a timely manner.Ensure the unit is consistently compliant with HIQA standards, health and safety regulations, and all facility policies.Act as a leader in infection prevention and control practices.4. Communication & Administration:Serve as the main point of contact for families and relatives, providing clinical updates and addressing any concerns in a timely and empathetic manner.Liaise effectively with GPs, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, multidisciplinary care for residents.Participate in management meetings and contribute to the overall strategic goals of the nursing home.Person Specification:Essential Requirements:Must be actively registered on the General Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).A minimum of 3 years of post-registration nursing experience.At least 2 years of experience in the care of the older person.Proven ability to lead and supervise a team in a clinical setting.A thorough understanding of the HIQA standards and the regulatory environment for nursing homes in Ireland.Excellent clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.Evidence of eligibility to work in Ireland is required.Desirable Attributes:A post-graduate qualification in Gerontology, Dementia Care, or a related field.A formal management or leadership qualification.Experience in conducting clinical audits and implementing quality improvement initiatives.Job Type: Full-timePay: From €50,000.00 per yearBenefits:On-site parkingSick payAbility to commute/relocate:Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam, CO.
