We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Maintenance Engineer to join our facilities team in Mullingar RDC. This is a hands‑on role combining technical building maintenance with key administrative and financial responsibilities. You will be responsible for performing on‑site repairs, coordinating external contractors, managing the maintenance budget, and ensuring all associated documentation is meticulously maintained. The ideal candidate must have strong practical repair skills and excellent attention to detail.
What you’ll do
Building Maintenance
Take responsibility for all building maintenance tasks and arrange for reactive maintenance to be completed as required
Perform hands‑on on‑site repairs (e.g., mechanical, electrical, plumbing) where required to ensure timely fault resolution
Schedule and coordinate all applicable planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on equipment, ensuring that contract timeframes and schedules are met
Ensure Health and safety is at the forefront of all works carried out on site
Mechanical and Electrical
Liaise with sub‑contractors for call‑outs, faults, and scheduled service visits as required
Cost Planning & Financials
Strong cost awareness skills, ensuring that all spending is in line with planned budgets
Reconcile invoices, ensuring that all materials purchased are invoiced correctly and cross‑checked against the original purchase order for sign‑off
Administration and Filing
Act as a co‑coordinator for maintenance‑related procedures and documentation
Manage departmental filing (both paper and electronic formats)
Ensure the quality and accurate filing of all documentation associated with technical services and reactive/preventative repairs
Data and Reporting
Collate information as required and/or directed by the Warehouse Facilities Manager
Compile reports and produce statistical support information as required
Site Management
Ensure cleaning standards are maintained and liaise with the cleaning company regarding any issues that may arise
What you’ll need
Technically qualified in either Mechanical / Electrical, Building Services or Facilities Management is desirable
Skillset to carry out minor repairs on site
Previous Facilities experience desirable but not essential
Demonstratable experience in coordinating external subcontractors and managing service‑level agreements
Srrong financial acumen with experience in budget management and invoice reconciliation
Ability to proactively solve problems and adapt to various ad‑hoc tasks
Excellent Google suite Skills
Very organised and self‑motivated with a proven ability to work to tight timescales
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and verbal
Able to work unsupervised and as part of a team
Ability to maintain confidential information and be discreet when dealing with sensitive issues
Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with managers, contractors, and team members
Strong administration, organisational, documentation and analytical skills
What you’ll receive
We offer a competitive and transparent salary system, that ensures pay equality across all positions at Lidl.
€49,500 rising to €53,000 after 1 year
20 days holidays per annum rising to 25 days after 2 years
