This is a senior operational role that will play a key part in the continued growth of the organisation while ensuring the highest standards of customer service, compliance, and transport efficiency. The Transport Manager will lead the transport and distribution function, ensuring smooth daily operations, effective team management, and full compliance with industry and safety regulations.ROLE & RESPONSIBILTIESManage and lead the transport management and distribution teamCoordinate all transport activities to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the depotEnsure the daily efficient dispatch of all routes and products to customersCoach, motivate, and develop members of the delivery teamLiaise effectively with sales, transport, and operations teams to resolve issues in a timely mannerWork closely with sales teams to ensure delivery schedules are efficient and aligned with customer needsEnsure delivery procedures and company policies are adhered to at all timesMinimise equipment breakdowns and ensure repairs are reported and managed appropriatelyMaintain depot premises to a high standardEnsure all company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and safely operated to reduce risk and protect brand standardsManage backhaul collections and ensure they are completed in line with daily requirementsOversee transport compliance in line with industry-leading standardsIdentify, coordinate, and deliver training as requiredEnsure security and health & safety procedures are adhered to at all timesLead by example, applying company policies and procedures in a fair, consistent, and unbiased mannerIDEAL CANDIDATE3+ years' experience in a management or supervisory role within a high-volume, time-sensitive, multi-drop distribution environmentExperience within the food distribution industry is advantageousFull driving licence required; Transport Management CPC is advantageousStrong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and WordProven ability to manage and motivate teams to deliver high standards of serviceHands-on leadership style with strong decision-making capabilityStrong planning and organisational skills with a focus on safety and efficiencyAbility to analyse, interpret, and present relevant operational and business dataFluent English (written and spoken)Strong knowledge of Department of Transport regulations, including Tachograph legislation and the Working Time DirectiveGood knowledge of the surrounding geographical areaCore CompetenciesCustomer Focus: Acts as a role model by placing customers at the centre of all decisions and understanding stakeholder needsFlexibility & Adaptability: Supports change initiatives and understands the impact of change on peopleBuilding Effective Relationships: Develops strong working relationships across departments and encourages teamworkCommunication & Listening: Communicates clearly and effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both written and verbalBenefitsHighly competitive salaryPension SchemeHealth InsuranceStaff Discounts
