Lead Electrical Engineer – Data Centre Project

Location: Projects throughout EU - Irish Client

Salary: Both Permanent salaries and packages and Contract Day Rates available

As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the delivery of a large-scale data centre project, supporting the execution of complex, mission-critical electrical systems from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. You will work as part of an integrated project team alongside construction, commissioning, design, and vendor stakeholders to ensure programme certainty, quality, and technical compliance.

This role is site-focused and delivery-driven, with responsibility for supporting electrical works associated with power distribution, resilience systems, and critical infrastructure typical of data centre environments.

Key Responsibilities

* Report to the Project Manager on technical progress, risks, constraints, and mitigation actions.
* Review and assess supplier and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with data centre specifications and employer's requirements.
* Interpret and review electrical schematics, GA drawings, layouts, and technical specifications relevant to mission-critical systems.
* Participate in design reviews and support technical validation of equipment and systems, including UPS, LV/MV distribution, generators, and associated infrastructure.
* Prepare and manage technical submittals, RFIs, equipment schedules, trackers, and documentation registers.
* Review design and construction documentation to identify scope gaps, coordination issues, or potential risks to programme and resilience.
* Carry out site inspections and system walkdowns to verify installation quality, workmanship, and compliance with project requirements and standards.
* Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities in line with data centre delivery best practice.

The role provides exposure to high-value, technically complex data centre projects and offers a strong platform for continued professional development. The successful candidate will be supported in expanding their technical capability and progressing towards professional or chartered engineer status as their responsibilities grow.

Skills & Experience Required

* Degree or equivalent third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering (essential).
* Electrical trade background would be advantageous but not essential.
* 3–5 years' experience in a project-based electrical engineering role, ideally within data centres or other mission-critical environments (life sciences, pharma, large commercial, or infrastructure).
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience working in BIM / Revit environments would be advantageous.
* Strong organisational, planning, and coordination skills.
* Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary, site-based project teams
