Maintenance Electrician – Job Specification
Position Overview
The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance of electrical systems, plant, and equipment. They will support operational continuity by ensuring reliability, minimising downtime and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Some key aspect of the role includes preventative maintenance inspections, fault-finding, repair, installation and testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out
planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
and reactive maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and building services.
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests, diagnose electrical faults and carry out timely and effective repairs to minimise downtime.
* Support installation, commissioning, and modification of electrical equipment and machinery.
* Support shutdowns, project work, and commissioning of new equipment
* Perform testing, inspection, and certification of electrical installations where required.
* Identify opportunities for process improvement, energy efficiency, and equipment reliability.
* Ensure all electrical work complies with
ET101 / ET102 National Rules for Electrical Installations
and company procedures.
* Adhere to all
Health & Safety Authority (HSA)
requirements, including safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting in line with company guidelines and procedures
* Liaise with production, facilities, and external contractors as required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Recognised Electrical Trade Qualification (e.g. QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate – Electrical).
* Registered Electrician with Safe Electric (or eligible to register).
* Experience in a maintenance environment
* Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
* Good understanding of Irish electrical safety legislation and standards.
